About Me
Hi, I’m Jelena, the person behind The Femme Letter.
The idea for The Femme Letter came from something quite personal. I found myself missing things that felt slower and more tangible. Writing something down instead of letting it circle around in my head. Making something with my hands. Receiving something in the mail that was not a bill or something I had ordered and forgotten about. Having small moments that did not need to be productive or lead anywhere.
Creativity has always been a big part of my life. Writing, designing and finding ways to express feelings through words and visuals have stayed with me for as long as I can remember. At the same time, another important part of my life has taken me in a seemingly different direction: education and working with people.
I completed my university degree and am currently pursuing my Master’s in Educational Sciences. I have worked as a teacher and now work as a social pedagogue, supporting young people through different stages of their lives.
That work has shaped me in ways that inevitably find their way into The Femme Letter. It has made me even more interested in the way we think, feel, relate to ourselves and make sense of what happens around us. Psychology and emotional well-being have become subjects I naturally return to, both personally and creatively.
But I never wanted The Femme Letter to become a place that tells people what they should be doing.
There is already enough of that.
I am much more interested in creating something that makes you stop for a moment and think, I know that feeling.
Sometimes that happens through a long article. Sometimes through a question written in a journal. Sometimes through an illustration or a few sentences on a piece of paper. And sometimes it happens when an envelope arrives in your mailbox and you sit down to read a letter somebody actually took the time to write.
The monthly letters were where The Femme Letter began, but over time I realized that the idea behind them could live in many different forms. That is why the blog, journaling resources, The Femme Space and other small projects have gradually become part of this place too.
Alongside The Femme Letter, I also run two Etsy shops, so designing and creating things is a fairly constant part of my everyday life. I like that my work can take different forms, but the things I care about tend to remain the same: thoughtful words, creativity, emotional connection and making things that feel personal rather than mass-produced.
The Femme Letter is where those parts of my life come together.
I do not have a perfect formula for slowing down, never overthink anything or have all of life figured out. I am creating this from inside many of the same experiences I write about.
And perhaps that is the point.
I want The Femme Letter to feel less like someone telling you what you need and more like a place you can come back to when you need a little space to hear yourself again.
